Sinusitis

Sinusitis

This is a complication of acute colds or influenza, characterised by sinus congestion, infection and/or pain. Use of the herbal complex Echinacea with Vitamins ACE and Zinc as an immune stimulant and increasing Vitamin C intake can assist with resolving sinusitis. Inhalation of essential oils can also help with clearing congestion.

Indicated homoeopathic remedies include:

Ferrum phos: First stage, with fever, inflammation and sinus pain.

Hepar sulph: Blocked nose then an offensive discharge smelling like old cheese. Irritable, chilly and hates drafts. Better from warm, humid air.

Kali bic: Sticky, ropy, stringy yellow-green discharge. Pain and pressure at the root of the nose. Better from heat and movement. Worse from cold and damp.

Pulsatilla: Changeable discharge, worse indoors in stuffy rooms, better in the open air. Yellow-green mucous. Pain above the eyes.

Silica: Chronic sinusitis. Thick, offensive discharge. Ulceration in the nose.
