Ch…Ch…Changes – Get some light and fresh air

Get some light and fresh air

Your hormones are affected by your body clock. That’s why people are more likely to experience depression in the winter season, when the dark and gloomy weather confuse the body’s experience of day and night.

So, one easy way to boost your mood is to spend at least half an hour in the bright morning light. And if you still feel down… eat dark chocolate that will surely get your endorphins and serotonin going! But in moderation OK!

Now that does not sound like a hard thing to ch ch ch change especially if it fights away the blues!!

Ch…Ch…Changes – remember you mum

Have you ever thought of what our mothers do for us over our life time?

Cooking, breakfast, lunch and dinner, sets the table, clears the table, washes dishes, washes clothes, makes beds, puts toys away, changes nappies, water the garden, changes sheets, vacuum, dust, irons, homework, school lunches, buys groceries, puts groceries away, drives kids to school and I am sure that list could go on.

Well this month’s ch ch ch change is to take one chore from your mum to show her your appreciation. Contributing to your family’s environment is a wonderful way to form those strong family bonds.

And for those who are now all grown up… why don’t you call your mum or dad every week to show them you care. Most elderly people are very lonely and feel isolated. You have the ability to change this for the positive and remind them that they are loved.

Carrot Juice Recipe

Carrot Juice Recipe

(with Ginger and Lemon)

Ingredients

• 4 large organic carrots

• 1 inch cube of ginger (2.5cm cube)

• ½ lemon

How to Make

1. Wash carrots using water and a stiff vegetable brush to remove any dirt.

2. Remove the green tops and slice the carrots to fit your juicer.

3. Peel the ginger, and slice to fit your juicer.

4. Chop the skin off the lemon.

5. Juice and enjoy.

You may prefer this with less ginger or lemon, if you are not sure just start with smaller amounts – you can always add more!

Carrot juice should be a part of a cancer patient’s diet, as it is considered high in anti-oxidants. It has minerals like calcium, potassium and vitamins B and C. It also contains beta-carotene which is antioxidant abundant. It is also believed that carrot juice may play a part in treating stomach, lungs and breasts cancer.

Vitamins and minerals from carrot juice help us in many ways. Carrot juice has many health benefits like vitamin B that encourages metabolism; potassium that helps in heartbeat regulation; and vitamin C that reinforces our blood vessel.

Try to incorporate a glass of carrot juice in your diet.

REMEMBER – fresh is best. You can purchase at the shops but if you spend the time to make the juice fresh and consume within 5 min of making then you will gain all the goodness the juice has to give.

How cancer touches all our lives – by Deb Browning

Last August I was contemplating my life and what it all meant. However, it was just a phone call away from a change that I am sure will be something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Something that will not only allow me to give, but to also grow as a person. The experiences that are still to come will be a challenge but I am so lucky to share it with my friend Lyn.

I spoke about doing a good deed in ch ch ch changes. I will admit this did not start out by me wanting to do a good deed but wanting to do something on my bucket list. And that was to do a car rally! Well that phone call I received was from another friend telling me about a car rally called “The Shitbox Rally”. www.shitbox.com.au

I would just like to say right now “Isn’t it funny how the universe works!”

The Rally raises money for the Cancer Council. It is relatively cheap to participate as your car must be valued under $1,000 hence the name of the rally. Read the rest of this entry »

Ch…Ch…Changes…A good deed

So many things can come from doing a good deed. Not only does it help the one/s that you are doing the deed for, but it can also help you feel good too. I am sure you can think of a family member, a friend, an organisation, an elderly neighbour or even an animal who may really welcome some help. Too many of us sit back and do nothing. Too many of us think someone else will do it instead. But do you know that volunteering can strengthen your own self-worth? So lets ch ch ch change your perception on life and show someone you care. You will be amazed at how you can change the world you live in by lending a hand.

Brain Teaser

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, “If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50.” The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he’ll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

Brain Teaser Answer

The man did exactly as he said he would and wrote “your exact weight” on the paper.
