Food intolerancesUnlike food allergy, food intolerance does not involve the immune system. Food intolerances are the most common trigger of gut symptoms; it can also cause other symptoms, such as headaches and fatigue. A low FODMAP Diet is designed to help sufferers of food intolerances. There is a great book available on this topic which has recipes. This book is available at BIG W and is wriiten by : Dr Sue Shepherd and Dr Peter Gibson – titled “Food Intolerance Management Plan”
Coeliac disease – What is it, Symptoms and treatment
Coeliac disease is a digestive disease that damages the Villi of the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. People who have coeliac disease cannot tolerate a protein called gluten, which is found in wheat, rye, and barley. When people with coeliac disease eat foods containing gluten, their immune system responds by damaging the small intestine. Read more here….

Brain Teaser – Bear
A bear walks south for one kilometre, then it walks west for one kilometre, then it walks north for one kilometre and ends up at the same point from which it started. What colour was the bear?
Brain Teaser Answer
The bear was white because it was a polar bear. The only place on earth where a bear can go south, west and north equal distances and end up where it started is the North Pole.
Recipe – Frittata. Sweet potatoe, Blue Cheese and Spinach
Why not get your kids involved in cooking this simple recipe.
Serves 4
Frittatas are so versatile. You can add whatever ingredient you like to the egg base (although the combination below is just delicious), then serve them hot, cold or at room temperature for lunch or dinner, or as finger food. If you don’t have an ovenproof frying pan, fry the sweet potato then transfer it to a greased 18cm backing dish. Pour the egg mixture over the top and proceed with the recipe.
- 20 g butter
- 2 sweet potatoes cut into 1cm cubes
- 2 cups (40 g) baby spinach leaves
- 100 g strong blue cheese
- 8 eggs, lightly beaten
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Salad to serve
- Preheat the oven to 180c.
Melt the butter in a 19cm frying pan with an ovenproof handle over medium heat. Add the sweet potato cubes and cook for 10 minutes or until tender and golden brown.
Lightly whisk together the spinach, blue cheese and egg in abowl. Pour over the sweet potato, then place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until firm (test bygently wobbling the pan). Remove from the oven, and then leave for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve with salad.

The previous newsletter contained an article called Candida – The connection between Candida, your immune system, and diet. This time we look at ways to reduce the Candida overgrowth. Candida cannot be eliminated completely from the body as it occurs naturally. The goal is to get the Candida overgrowth under control and keep the levels low and controlled.
For many people Candida can be controlled with a change to diet and eating plan. For others, you may require additional support with homeopathic remedies other types of supplements. The BioSET protocol will also assist. BUT, the food you eat is the most important factor in reducing the Candida overgrowth. Without a change in eating habits all and any supportive measures will not work.

Enzyme therapy at workReducing Acne, Eczema and Candida break outs
When 37 year old Becky paid her first visit to the BioSET clinic she came with a laundry list of symptoms, including severe acne, chronic vaginal infections, constipation and depression. She was also over weight for her normal height and age. Like many women, she had tried every diet, supplement, and alternative therapy she could think of. Any improvement in her symptoms was only temporary.
